My Story

Hello! My name is Melissa.

I've taught piano for 9 years now, to all ages.   I enjoy playing the violin & guitar as well as composing music.  I've played the piano for 33 years, & the violin for 29 yrs.    I played both piano & violin in the Youth Symphony of San Antonio as a young musician from 1996 to 1999 under the direction of Carla Wright, ( 1st violin, 3rd chair).

I tied for 1st place in the annual competition held by Trinity College of Music London, judged by Juilliard graduates Robin & Peggy Abraham of Northside Music.  They were friends and mentors to me for many years.

I offer a free introductory lesson.  This is a great time to discuss goals or special requests & opportunities a student has an interest in.  I also take this time to begin an outline focused on teaching strategies adapted to the individual's learning style.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. Please don't hesitate to call or text, & I'll return your call as soon as possible. Please don't forget to leave a name & number if you leave a message. I look forward to meeting you!   Thank you & Good Luck!

        * Update:    I now offer lessons over Zoom as an option, for your comfort during this time.  :)
